Deal with reputable ready mix supplies that take steps to control these variables, and never switch ready mix suppliers in the middle of a colored concrete project! Make sure your RM supplier understands colored concrete and that they use cement from the same lot (or at least the same cement company!) for the entire job.

Mix Ready Concrete Colors are lightfast, lime-proof, weather-resistant color “admixtures” made of metal or mineral oxides either recycled from iron or refined from the earth. (Supra-Instant Black is a concentrated carbon black, treated in a proprietary process for extra tint strength and dispersibility.

LeslieA, We would advise to not using Sakrete 5000 Plus Concrete Mix less than 2" inches in depth. You may be better served to using the Sand Mix Topping and Bedding Mix. Sand mix does not contain any large aggregate. It is a sand and Portland cement mix that is a 5,000 psi. after 28 days. It can be used at a minimum of 1/2" in depth.
